The Level 3 AET has approximately 48 hours of study time and, including research and assessment time, takes approximately 120 hours to complete. You can choose how you wish to divide these hours. You may wish to complete the course in a matter of weeks or spread it over the entire twelve months.
This qualification was previously known as PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector). However, the PTLLS online training course is now known as Level 3 Award in Education and Training (RQF) and can be followed up with levels 4 and 5 if you wish to extend your knowledge beyond this foundation level.

Your hours can be divided over a 12-month period. The course can be completed in a matter of weeks or over the course of a year.
This online course gives you access to tutor support. You will be expected to complete this course within 12 months, though you can spread the hours out however if you wish. During this time you also have 24/7 access to your online portal which has everything you need.

LEVEL 3 AET COURSE CONTENT
Unit No 1
Understanding the Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships in Education and Training.
This introductory unit helps you to understand the introduction of teaching including health and safety, equal opportunities and the other professionals you may have to work with.
Unit No 2
Understanding and using inclusive learning and teaching approaches in education and training.
This unit helps you to understand how people learn, the ways in which people communicate and how to use a range of different teaching methods and resources to help you meet your learners’ individual needs.
Unit No 3
Understanding the principles and practices of assessment.
This unit identifies what assessment is and how to deliver excellent assessment practice. The unit is ideal for anybody with an interest in assessing workplace achievement or those delivering regulated qualifications and awards.

Assignments
MICROTEACHING
The final assessment in this course is the delivery of a 15 minutes microteaching session which you will record and upload to your tutor for marking. The microteaching should demonstrate the content you have studied in the 3 units of the award including:
- An introduction, aims and outcomes, icebreaker and health and safety
- Deliver an inclusive lesson using a range of resources and methods
- Assess the learner and summarise the lesson
Learners will be expected to provide a range of written material to support their lesson including; scheme of work, lesson plan, learner evaluation and a self-evaluation of their performance.
