MODEL MAY BE REQUIRED::  If more than one student is booked onto the course then students will be practising on each other - NOTE: if no other students book onto the course then the course will run as 1-2-1 training on a model which you will need to bring with you to practise on.

WHAT IS AN ONCOLOGY MASSAGE TREATMENT?

Oncology massage is a supportive therapy that can help cancer patients manage their symptoms and side effects before, during, and after treatment. It also enhances comfort and helps ease the anxiety and depression associated with cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Course Content & Learning Outcomes

This course covers knowledge of cancer, how it grows, types of cancer, staging and treatment and side effects .

There are additional hygiene and health and safety considerations for clients living with cancer, and they are covered here along with consultation techniques specific to the disease.

Candidates will learn about medical devices commonly used in cancer treatment and how to adapt positioning, technique and protocol to accommodate these .

There is a course section on the emotional impact of a cancer diagnosis , which highlights the need for compassionate practice , and a protocol for cancer massage
