WHAT IS A SUGARING TREATMENT?
Sugaring hair removal, is an ancient middle-eastern practice which uses an all natural paste or gel made from food-derived ingredients like sugar, water and lemon juice to remove the hair follicle from the root. The results can last up to six weeks and is less painful than most forms of waxing because the substance sticks to the hair without attaching to the skin and is applied at room temperature or heated to a lukewarm temperature, preventing burning.
Benefits
Sugaring is usually preferred to wax treatments because:-
- As the product is made up of natural ingredients and the working temperature of the paste is low, it is very effective on a more sensitive skin as well as well as some skins that would react to waxing and therefore be contra-indicated. Clients do say that if feels less painful than warm waxing
- Sugar paste is water-soluble so less inclined to stick to everything. It is very easy to wipe down the skin and other surface
- Very short hairs can be removed as the paste grips the hairs and not the skin, so there is not the wait for re-growth as there is with waxing
- Sugar is used at a lower temperature, so less risk of burning or irritating the skin
- Sugar is easier to clean off the skin (clothes, etc.) than waxes
- Sugar does not stick as readily to the skin as (some) waxes do, creating less trauma
